The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati is appreciative of the outstanding men and women who volunteer to be part of both the association and branch boards of directors, working side-by-side with the Y to strengthen communities. The association board is elected by Electoral Council and is tasked with providing strong leadership to the association, helping steer the organization toward meeting its strategic goals, while strengthening the mission and purpose of the Y. Association board members attend regular meetings with YMCA senior staff, provide leadership on numerous task teams, and attend special trainings.

" As a kid in Washington, D.C., I was blessed because my parents sent me to YMCA Camp in Dumfries, VA for several summers. That was the beginning of my love affair with the great outdoors. I experienced really cool counselors who cared about me and taught me life and outdoor skills that I use to this day. For a city boy, these were my first exposures to a world without concrete. Today, through my volunteer activities as a member of the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati Board, I feel that I can sort of payback those counselors and camp administrators for the wonderful times I had and pay it forward for the campers of today."

The branch boards of directors serve as advisors for YMCA of Greater Cincinnati branches. The boards work with branch facility leadership to establish goals and priorities of branches, providing input on the branch strategic plan, and serving as a strong link between the Y and the community. There are numerous opportunities to volunteer on committees to share individual talents that can help the branch be even stronger. If you are interested in serving as a member of a branch board, contact the executive director of the YMCA you are interested in working with.
