SERVICES
The Community Services YMCA serves as a greenhouse for youth and community development for the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. As we incubate and plant new programs throughout the tri-state, our greenhouse’s nursery will stay vibrant and full of new initiatives and partnerships. Current projects include the following:

Leading a network of youth development agencies, school leaders and citizens, providing afterschool academic and personal enrichment, as well as quality programming featuring 9 core components. Programs all provide Tutoring & Mentoring, 21st Century Skills, College & Career Exploration, Service Learning, Leadership Development, Arts Education, Health & Wellness, Global Learning, and Parent and Family Engagement opportunities. CSY also coordinates Cincinnati Public Schools district-wide afterschool initiative via 150 partners at 28 CPS schools.
Results: 50.8% increased in reading test score from 2007 to 2008; 51.6% increased in math test score from 2007 to 2008; Now reaching over 5,000 students at 28 sites in 09-10.

CincyAfterSchool Arts and ArtWheels, two programs funded by UBS Financial Services, enhances afterschool programs throughout the Tri-State, bringing dance, drama, music, and visual arts to over 1,500 youth each month. When kids see the ArtWheels van coming, they know they will have an afternoon of inventive arts creativity!
Results: Since November 2007, ArtWheels has provided 10,000+ contact hours of arts programming at over 30 afterschool sites. Students build self-esteem, social and cultural competencies, planning and decision-making skills and more.

CincyAfterSchool Tutoring offers focused, intensive and targeting individualized tutoring to children in kindergarten through twelfth grade in both Reading/Language Arts and Mathematics instruction. We also deliver homework help and enrichment activities in order to assist students in raising their academic performance in class and the state Achievement Test.
Results: Over 500 students currently enrolled; Of the 604 served during 2008-09 school year, 81% increased in district benchmark test scores with an average increase of 19%.

Government comes alive for teens from local high schools. Students have the opportunity to voice their opinions and share their ideas with city administrators, elected officials, and other Cincinnati students. Also, youth learn that they can make a difference through service-learning experiences.
Results: Diverse team elected by their peers represented Cincinnati at Council on National Affairs Conference and received special recognition for their achievements!

Strengthening connections between schools and neighborhoods by leveraging school facilities as the hub for community services and enhancements to the quality of life to create the conditions conducive for learning for people of all ages.
Results: Lead district network for afterschool support services aligned with Strive and district strategic plans. Manage full-time resource coordinators for 3 Cincinnati Public Schools.
