Engage, ignite, achieve

Dear YMCA Friends,

I just love the renewal and new life that comes with spring.  It’s a great time to start fresh, find new opportunities and begin to enjoy new healthy activities, inside and out.  You will savor the Y stories captured here highlighting how trying new ways to partner with the Y can renew spirit, mind and body.  And, don’t miss the chance to mark your calendars for the best YMCA Healthy Kids Day ever! Saturday, April 23, 2016 is the day for your family to celebrate healthy habits and get lots of resources for all ages and have a blast together.

Remember, we at the Y are here to cheer you along in your journey to be your very best.

Happy Spring to All

Age Is Just A Number

Age is just a number for Cindy Wessel.  The 62-year-old is one of the newest lifeguards at the Blue Ash YMCA, overseeing the pools with her much younger colleagues.

The road to becoming a lifeguard was a long and emotional one. Cindy lost her husband of 43 years, Thad, a year-and-a-half ago to ALS.

Road To Recovery

The road to recovery has led Ronnie Decatur to the YMCA.

On March 13, 2013, on his way to get gas, a semi-truck ran a red light and plowed into the passenger side of his car. The collision knocked Ronnie through the windshield, and left him lying face down on the AA Highway, where he had to be airlifted to the hospital.
