At the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, we make sure we honor our donors’ intents and giving wishes. We help connect donors with places their donations can make the impacts that are important to them, and we are careful stewards of their gifts. We love discovering Y stories, and we love to share them.
Virginia B. started her Y story at the Wade YMCA in Covington, KY. The Wade YMCA gave Virginia a safe place to go after school. Virginia says, “I learned how to play pool and improved my swimming skills, while making friends and memories.” As she and her husband raised their family, they enjoyed the Powel Crosley, Jr. YMCA, and Virginia currently finds her community at the Clippard Family YMCA. Support like Virginia’s goes to programs such as Membership For All, a program where those who qualify can receive a discount on YMCA memberships so their families can access programs like swim lessons and group exercise classes. Virginia has been giving to the YMCA for over 10 years, and continues to give her support so others may find the happiness she and her family found through the Y.
Sydney Pepper has been with the YMCA for just over one-and-a-half years in her position as Grants Director. Sydney’s roots are in the arts: she grew up singing and participated in school choirs. Arts were where she could feel like herself and find belonging. She gives to the Music Resource Center (powered by the Y) because, she says, “It is unique and offers the kids who maybe don’t fit in traditional arts paths the opportunity to find friends and explore their interests, and it helps them find their voices. It’s close to my heart.” By giving to the MRC, Sydney provides funding for things like outreach in the community and hot meals for the teens who attend programming. Sydney also gives to the YMCA program Cradle to Career because of the work they do at the systems level to address barriers and inequities, such as cooking classes for expectant parents support groups for young families. She appreciates C2C’s efforts to effect change in the community right now and in years to come.
We love our members, our communities, and our donors! Find out how to give here.
