The changes that have happened as a result COVID-19 have brought new sets of challenges. We have adapted our procedures and guidelines to ensure that we provide our members with an environment that is healthy and safe. We would like to welcome you back by reminding you of the importance of keeping the Y in your life.
Exercise is Good for you
The Y provides numerous wellness centers so that its members can get proper exercise. Exercise is the perfect way to get your body moving and blood flowing. It gives you energy and boosts happiness. There are numerous ways that exercising can improve your mind, body and spirit.
Increase Your Happiness – Working out can increase your happiness by boosting endorphin production. It has also been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and reduce perceptions of pain. It improves emotions and alleviates symptoms of depression. It boosts energy levels as well, helping bring you out of dark and dreary mental spaces. Exercising can help you relax easier and sleep better.
Weight Loss Benefits– Working out can also help with weight loss. When combined with a healthy diet, exercising can be a great way to lose weight. Continuous exercise not only burns calories but can increase your metabolism as well. This means that burning calories off becomes easier. It also reduces risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and decreases blood fat levels.
Boost Brain and Body Health– Exercise is shown to promote healthy flood flow and oxygen to the brain. It stimulates the production of hormones that improve brain cell growth. Exercising also reduces your risk for chronic diseases. This protects your brain from possible degenerative diseases.

Not only does the Y provide wellness centers to improve your body and mind, but also gives you peace of mind by providing the best possible childcare available. The right childcare programs can have significant benefits on your child’s mental, physical, and emotional growth and development. - Prepare children to excel in school – Afterschool programs are shown to improve math, language and social skills. They also help children stay on track for the school year. We offer a variety of afterschool programs that can benefit your little ones.

Right now, this whole situation may seem confusing. Although large get togethers are strongly discouraged, we at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati still want to give you the community feel. We do this by inviting you back while maintaining the safety and health of our members as our highest priority. We have introduced numerous precautions and procedures to ensure that you can still get all the benefits of the Y without putting yourself at increased risk. If you don’t feel quite ready to come back, we also offer a variety of virtual programs. These help you stay active and maintain your health no matter where you may be. We take pride in knowing that we can support our community with the right precautions.
