For the past few weeks, we have been highlighting our Volunteer of the Year winners from our 2023 Keystone Awards. Today, we introduce you to Val! She is a Bingo Coordinator, Advisory Council Member, and a Lead Front Desk Volunteer.
Val is a valuable member of the volunteer team at the Skees Florence Senior Center. Val volunteers 4 days a week and is often the first person participants meet when they come through the door. She takes her role very seriously and makes sure that she knows everyone’s name ensuring that they feel they are welcomed and have a sense of belonging. One of Val’s favorite activities is Bingo. You will find her calling out “B4” or “N48” at least twice a week for a packed room. The participants love her and miss her when she is not there, she makes sure everyone has a great time even if they aren’t the game winner. Thank you, Val, for always being a smiling and friendly face in our Y community!
