Cathy is a powerhouse of volunteerism, leaving a lasting mark on the YMCA through her dedication and infectious energy. As a fearless fundraiser, she never hesitates to ask for donations, passionately sharing the Y’s mission and inviting others to support its incredible work. Her enthusiasm for the Y’s story and its impact on the community is contagious, and it drives her to ensure the success of every initiative she touches.
One of her standout moments came this past St. Patrick’s Day, when she inspired YMCA members to visit three local nursing homes. With Cathy leading the charge, they got residents up dancing, laughing, and enjoying the festive spirit—joy being the central theme of everything she does. Cathy has also been instrumental in bringing YMCA holiday events to life, from Boo Fest and Cookies with Santa to the Floating Easter Egg Hunt and April Pool’s Day, creating cherished experiences for families.
Her dedication to community outreach doesn’t stop at the Y. Cathy spearheaded projects like delivering Valentine’s cards to assisted living homes, ensuring that even those outside the YMCA feel connected and cared for. A key highlight of her contributions has been her leadership in the Pickleball program. What started with just five players has grown into a thriving community of over 40 participants, complete with beautiful new courts.
Cathy’s love for the Y has allowed her to meet wonderful people who have become lifelong friends. Her passion, commitment, and unwavering joy make her an irreplaceable part of the M.E. Lyons YMCA family, and her impact continues to uplift the community in countless ways.
Congratulations Cathy on being selected as M.E. Lyon’s YMCA’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year!
